THE BEST OF TIMES

THE BEST OF TIMES

It’s bittersweet to realize that the 2016 fishing season at Big Sand Lake Lodge has drawn to a close. The sweet part was all the great fishing our guests experienced this year. As it does every year, Big Sand Lake consistently delivers the best fishing experience in Northern Manitoba or, to be more accurate, one of the best fishing experiences to be found anywhere. And this year was no exception.
Lake trout? No lake in Canada delivers more big trout than Big Sand. Pike? Catching monster Pike is an every day fishing reality at Big Sand. Walleye? Honestly, there must be a million-plus hungry walleyes in Big Sand. And don’t forget those incredibly beautiful Arctic Grayling, which inhabit so many of the rivers and streams that run into and out of 70-mile long Big Sand.
The bitter part is unpacking your tackle and realizing that you have to wait another nine months before the next Big Sand fishing season opens, that is, unless you’re one of the lucky fellows coming up for the Fall moose and bear hunt in which case you can bring your fishing rods back to enjoy more great fishing after you bag your trophy moose.
However, let’s face it. Even the most avid fisherman is probably only able to spend a week or two with us every year at Big Sand. So how do you enlarge that experience? By planning ahead. Anticipation and planning are part of the experience. There’s a deep satisfaction in knowing that you’ll be back on Big Sand next year. It will put a smile on your face countless times when the pressure of work or the routine of ordinary life gets you down. If you haven’t been to Big Sand yet, there’s the pleasure of looking forward to an unforgettable fishing trip. And here’s the best part.
IT PAYS TO PLAN AHEAD

To encourage you procrastinators and last-minute planners out of your lethargy, Rick Bohna, the Manager of Big Sand Lake Lodge, is offering a $500 discount on 2017 fishing reservations made for the main lodge before September 1, 2016. That’s on top of the fact that Big Sand Lake Lodge is already the most affordable five-star fishing vacation in Northern Manitoba. The fishing, the accommodations, the food, the guides, in fact all the staff are second to none. The only thing we scrimp on is the price we charge our customers plus that extra $500 off if you reserve your spot before September 1, 2016.
